What is the symbol for Severe Turbulence on charts?

On aviation weather charts, turbulence is shown with standardized glyphs, and the severity is conveyed by combining shapes. The symbol for Severe Turbulence is a witch’s hat placed below a chevron. This two-part glyph quickly signals pilots and planners that strong, potentially dangerous turbulence is forecast in that area. The hat marks turbulence itself, while the chevron above distinguishes the severity level from lighter turbulence symbols.
